WALKERS has brought back another popular crisp flavour to supermarket shelves.

The iconic crisps are making a return

At the time, many customers took to social media to mourn the loss of the sauce inspired snack.

One lover of the snack described the treat as “the best ever,” while another described them as a “god tier crisp”.

And now Walkers has confirmed the delight is once again available to buy in stores.

Multipacks of the ketchup crisps are back in store at Iceland and the Food Warehouse store for £2.

A spokesperson for the Walkers said: “Yes – it is true! The Walkers Heinz Tomato Ketchup Crisps are indeed back.”

Fans were quick to share their excitement after realising the crisp had returned.

One person said: ” Love these crisps glad they are back”.

While another person simply commented: “Oh Yes”.

It comes just days after Walkers confirmed it would bring back its beloved Worcester sauce flavoured crisps.

This time, the snack will be made in collaboration with Lea & Perrins, the maker of one of the most famous Worcester sauces in the UK.

Walkers confirm they’ve discontinued fan favourite flavour

The crisp giant teased fans with its return by launching a pop up event in a shop Worcester for one day only.

Hundreds of people queued outside Charlie’s Convenience Store in Worcester last Tuesday to get their hands on a packet.

Walkers later confirmed the crisps would be available across stores in the UK from March 17.

Walkers apologised for getting rid of the snack, saying: “On reflection, maybe we shouldn’t have just limited the sale of Walkers Worcester Sauce flavoured crisps to only one store in Worcester.

“Fans, we’ve heard your outrage loud and clear… so, we’ve decided that your favourite Walkers Worcester Sauce flavour crisps will land on shelves at retailers all over the UK from Monday 17th March onwards,” it said.

CANCELLED WALKERS CRISPS

Walkers has a history of cancelling certain flavours before bringing them back.

In 2024, the crisp giant announced the return of another fan-favourite – BBQ Sauce.

The popular flavour was launched in the 1990s but was discontinued before making a heroic comeback.

In the past, the brand has also treated fans to an array of new flavours, including Cheese Toastie and Heinz Beanz flavour.

These limited edition flavours were not around for long however, and were removed from stores last October.

Why are products axed or recipes changed?

Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether.

They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers.

There are several reasons why this could be done.

For example, government regulation, like the “sugar tax,” forces firms to change their recipes.

Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs.

They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable.

For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018.

It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version.

Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year.

Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks.

While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.
