Luk-ing for another record

Luke Littler could break yet ANOTHER record this evening.

Should the world champion win the night on home soil, he would take his tally of nightly wins to five.

Five nightly wins would break the Premier League record for the most obtained from a player in a single season.

MVG’s freak injury

Michael van Gerwen suffered an injury putting his SHIRT ON!

The three-time World Champion pulled out of last week’s Premier League in Berlin and the International Darts Open this past weekend in Riesa.

Former UK Open finalist Vincent Van der Voort, a close friend of Van Gerwen, was with him throughout the ordeal and spoke candidly on the Dutch podcast Darts Draait Door about what unfolded.

He said: “Michael hurt himself in the afternoon—it was really unfortunate.

“He was trying on some shirts for his sponsor, and as soon as he put one on, he said something didn’t feel right. He could barely move his neck.”

Despite his recent withdrawals, MVG is set to compete tonight in Manchester.

One hour warning

Play in Manchester is expected to get underway at 7.15pm!

The first match of the night sees Chris Dobey take on Michael van Gerwen as the Dutchman returns to Premier League action.

The Bullet spoke about his recent good run of form ahead of tonight’s show in Manchester, he said: “I know I’m playing against the best players in the world, but I also know I’ve got the game to beat these guys.

“I’m world number four, I’m playing some of the best darts of my life at the minute, and hopefully this is just the start of things to come.

“I’ve dug in and played some really good darts, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season now.

“It’s not dead and buried. I’m not out of it yet, and I will keep fighting right until the very end of the Premier League.”

Littler on Manchester homecoming

Teenage sensation Luke Littler has fond memories of the AO Arena after he was victorious on his Manchester homecoming last year.

The Premier League Darts leader spoke to the media ahead of Night 10, he said: “I would love to go back-to-back in Manchester.

“I know there are plenty of weeks to go, but I want to get that fifth nightly win and break the record as soon as possible.

“I’m very excited to be back in Manchester. It was amazing to get the win on debut last year, and obviously now I’m going back as World Champion, so hopefully I can pick up another title.”
